Competition preparation for the annual Scripps Spelling Bee is held at Praise
most Thursday mornings with Jennifer Bemis. This is open to all PCS elementary
and middle school students. Due to changes in policies this year, Scripps
charged $99.00 per school or $10.00 per family to participate. PCS has paid the
$99.00 for our school. To represent PCS, each child will be charged $8.00 to
help defray the fees.
Email Jennifer Bemis at
jbeemer2@bellsouth.net for details of meeting times. Also, check out

Ben Foster's Boy Scout Popcorn sales:
Ben Foster, who is a 5th grader at Praise and a 2nd year WEBELO scout with Pack
147, will be in uniform Thursday, Oct.4, to sell Trail's End Popcorn. Popcorn
sales to the Boy Scouts is the equivalent of cookie sales to the Girl Scouts.
Thanks to your help, Ben came in 2nd in sales last year and hopes to top that
this year. Trail's End Popcorn is available in a variety of flavors, sizes, and
prices, and WAS NOT among the brands which made news recently regarding its
butter flavoring. Pack 147 was proud last year to have been able to purchase
some new equipment for the boys with the proceeds from the popcorn sales and
hopes to do even more this year.

The following LONG list is from an email from Debi Foster (at BLH request)
concerning projects to be completed before they can move back into their house.
The Fosters have been in a tiny FEMA trailer since Katrina (fall 2005). I know
we are in the middle of the robotics competition, but if anyone (individually)
can help, please contact Debi at 479-8477(h) or 767-9983(c).
It would be great to see them moved back into before too many more days. After
robotics, we will get a group to work on some of these projects. Thank you!
Bonita
